Board certified dermatologist with a bruise on my face because I just injected myself with filler but I will never inject filler into my smile lines. Oftentimes smile lines are referred to as nasolabial folds. But the reason I would never put filler here is because you will look like a puffer fish and having a little bit of a fold is natural and you've probably always had it since you were a kid. Now talking more specifically about the lines like these filler is never going to help that either because you are emoting and speaking and they're going to come right back. Retinols can help over time, but using it here will cause a lot of times irritation. So you want to use something that is extremely light as a retinol, almost too gentle, but using it consistently over time it can make a difference. Or even doing in office procedures like PRP where you take your blood and it can help stimulate your own collagen production when you inject it under the skin.
