So this is a lie. Sunscreens and sunblocks both work the same way and both of you are not going to fully block all the UV rays and block you from getting a tan. You can indeed tan with even an SPF 50 or 100 if you stay out long enough in the sun or you don't apply the right amount or you don't reapply. Sunscreens and sunblocks in the past were differentiated because of the filters that were used. Chemical versus physical Physical people thinking was more like a shield blocking the light. But it has been shown more recently that both chemical and physical absorbs the UV rays and converts them into heat meaning that with both you can still tan or burn if you stay long enough in the sun or again don't reapply. It's more like a filtration system and not really a shield. So false sense of security is never a safe thing. And no diaper rash cream is not a substitute for your sunscreen.
