If your skin looks like this, or this, or even this, these are all three different types of acne scars. But not all acne scars are created equal, and you could break it down into two main categories. Color versus Texture. When it comes to color, if you have redness on your face, this is known as post inflammatory erythema. Erythema basically is a fancy word in medicine for redness. But if you have brown spots on your face, this is known as post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is again, another fancy word for skin skin darkening. But when it comes to texture, your scars can be classified in different ways. Either your scar pops up and this is known as a hypertrophic scar. Think of like a keloid. Or your scars pop down, and they're usually atrophic scars. And there are three main type of atrophic scars.
