Short YouTube clip (Shereene Idriss) answering a viewer about oily, acne-prone skin. Main advice: avoid over-washing (it can strip skin and increase oil production); instead 'wash smarter.' Recommends a BHA cleanser containing 2% salicylic acid—specifically CeraVe Acne Control Cleanser—and advises lathering so the active has contact time. Mentions CeraVe's online cleanser quiz to help choose the right cleanser.

Hey Dr. Idris, I have oily skin. I keep washing my face more but I'm still breaking out. What would you recommend? That's a very interesting dilemma that you're in because a lot of people think if they have oily skin they are prone to acne, which is true because the oils clog your pores. But if you're over washing your face you might be over stripping your skin and your skin might be making more oil breaking you out more in the process. So instead of washing harder you need to be washing smarter. Here I'm in front of Cerave. They have an acne control cleanser with 2% salicylic acid in it. This is the type of BHA you want if you are oily and have acne prone skin because salicylic acid acid can go in deep to unclog your pores. If you're using a cleanser with an active, lather it with your skin so your skin and your face gets the face time it needs with the active in the cleanser and you're not just washing it down the drain and washing your money down the drain as well. Survey actually has an online cleanser quiz to identify your skin type to figure out what is the right cleanser for you because they have a lot of different cleansers for different skin needs and it could be helpful for you to know which one you need.
