A short motivational monologue for insurance agents (by Roger Sitkins) arguing that comparison harms personal and professional progress. The speaker urges producers and agencies to avoid the "comparison trap," focus on daily actions that move them toward goals, and embrace Sitkins' "best version possible" approach to development rather than measuring themselves against others.

So it's been said that comparison is the thief of joy, and I wholeheartedly agree with that. Comparison is a thief of joy. Here's why. You know, oftentimes in working with insurance agencies, certainly initially, or insurance producers initially, you'll hear them talk about, well, I'm not where they are or I'm not doing the things that he or she has done or accomplished yet. And while I appreciate and applaud the vision and the goals that we have, the comparison trap can be such a killer. We spend so much time worrying about what we don't have yet, or what we haven't accomplished yet, or how that compares to others that we forget to focus on what's most important, which is our own personal and professional development. When we talk about best version possible at Sitkins, we do that with meaning. It's not about are you compared to other agencies. Although it's good to have some frame of reference, what truly matters is what I'm doing today, helping me move forward to the goals and dreams that I have for tomorrow. Don't get caught in the comparison trap.
