A short transcript excerpt from a March 13, 2025 YouTube video by Roger Sitkins discussing preparation as the 'ultimate competitive advantage' in sales and leadership. Two speakers emphasize doing homework, knowing the customer better than competitors, and that preparation is a controllable factor that shows in meetings (including an anecdote about presenting this idea to ~70 salespeople).
I want, I want to hit on a couple things here. First of all, the. No more the. Let me tell you what I know. I love that line. I hope listeners are writing that down because we teach and preach and again, part of things that we do so much. In fact one of our, our. I don't know if it's a title of a section we do. I guess that's what you call it is called the ultimate competitive advantage. And the ultimate competitive advantage is preparation, which is really what you're talking about, right? You've done your work, you've done your homework.
I've always said I want you to pick back up. But I've always said if I could have one compet advantage, one assuming that price and product and all that is, you know, everybody's kind of in the, in the same ballpark. If I could have one thing to set me apart, it would be that exact thing. The way I said it was let me know the customer better than anybody else. Yeah, I win almost every time.
Yeah, I, I just did. It was a section this week, so it's very relevant that I did with a Group about 70 some salespeople. And I said, you know, like some. Some of you got more experience, some of you got more resources, some of you got different tools, all these things. But there's one thing that you all can control and that is your level of preparation. And when you walk in that meeting and again it just, it just shows.
