Natalie Glick from BCG describes HT Squared, an approach that pairs AI tools with human judgment in hiring. Automation handles job posting and application screening, but recruiters make final decisions. The screening tools are audited for bias, though Glick acknowledges AI models still reflect human-built bias.

So yeah, we, we don't see the role diminishing at all. We see it evolving. We see that as part of our project actually we've called it HT Squared High Touch High tech because we want to bring and maintain our high touch approach to candidate experience to our hiring manager experiences whilst also having a high tech AI driven power behind us. Part of that business case actually to our leaders was to ensure that through this we actually gain productivity for our recruiters. There's the balance there of increasing productivity, maintaining high touch and using high tech. We want to remove some of those heavy lift processes. Posting jobs, sifting through thousands and thousands of applications are really driving us to look at screening in a way that enlightens the candidates that we think are going to be a better match for us, but whilst also thinking about that human element of always having the human decision. At the end of the day, everything we do tech is there to help us, but the human needs to be there to finally make those decisions. We're using, as I mentioned, screening, making sure that as we think about our human voices and thoughts, we have bias. And a lot of the tools that we're using have gone through a lot of bias checks and audits. So hopefully the decisions they're making to help us informatic are removing a lot of the bias before we even get there. So as, and there is a balance, I've seen a lot of articles recently around different versions of ChatGPT asking the same questions and getting some really biased answers. So I think there's a lot of movement on there. And ultimately these machines are built by humans, so they're being built with bias. And so we really have to think about how we look and challenge some of those thoughts as we look at our systems. But really it's evolving. I think it's much more around how can I be the better strategic partners my business, how can I have better relationships, how can I be the best partner to the candidate and to the business to ensure I do the best job I can do?
