Whether you're an agency recruiter working in a talent acquisition team or a recruitment manager, when faced with a hiring freeze or slowdown, it's important to demonstrate your personal value in your organization. Reflect on your role. Take some time to reflect on your position and how it's changing. Taking on new challenges can help us to achieve incredible things. If you can change your approach to the way you work, you will develop new habits which will serve you right throughout your career and and come out of this a much stronger and resilient person. Here are five strategies that you can implement to ensure you continue to add value in your role. Number one Honour the struggle. You have faced adversity and challenges in the past and you've overcome them. Sometimes we have to simply honour the struggle. High performance coach Brendon Bouchard talks about this in his podcasts and videos. Rather than complain of the effort involved. The do you struggle as necessary, important and a positive part in your personal and professional growth? Find someone to fight for. During times of personal or professional hardship, we can tend to focus too much on ourselves. Instead, we need to find a cause or person to fight for that could be your team, your team leader, your customers. If you're like most people, you'll do more for others than you'll do for yourself, and by doing so you'll find your cause for focus and excellence. 3. Increase the outputs that matter. In a time of uncertainty and confusion, it's really important that you're clear on the outputs that matter the most, short, medium and long term. Really focus on delivering those outputs to a really high standard. Number four Use your skills. Determine the five major skills and areas of expertise that you have that can be used in your team to add real value. These might be skills your colleagues and team know you have, but remember you've lots of hidden talents that you may have developed in previous roles that are needed right now. As an example, you could be really good at Excel. Think creatively about how you can use that skill to help your colleagues. Or perhaps you're really good at using online project management tools such as trello or Monday.com how can you optimize your skills as well as online resources to manage critical projects that are high priority as well as adding real value? Know your why when you're feeling confused or overwhelmed but need and want to increase your performance necessity, you need to be clear on the why. Why is it important to you? Telling yourself, your colleagues and team why what you're doing is so important will also motivate you to remain consistent. You will struggle to add value without a personal sense that it's necessary for you to excel. Use your unique skills and focus on what projects really matter. Remember who you're doing this for and why, and know that you've overcome challenges in the past. Honour the struggle and remember this great Little did I realize that my desire to add value to others would be the thing that added value to me.
