Did you know that 6 out of 10 employees feel pressured to play down or cover some aspect of their personality or identity at work? Hi, my name is Joe Gerstan. I work with teams and leaders and organizations helping them out on their efforts around diversity and inclusion, equity and belonging. And I've been doing this work in one way or another for nearly 20 years now. I'm excited to have the opportunity to talk to you about psychological safety. Psychological safety is important in the workplace for a lot of different reasons, but it's central and critical to our efforts around inclusion, equity and belonging. If those things are important to us, we've got to be good at creating spaces and places where human beings, all of whom are different from each other, can tell the truth to each other. And that's kind of what psychological safety is about. With me, you'll learn what psychological safety is and why it's important, the impact of psychological safety on inclusion, engagement and performance, and practical strategies to create and increase psychological safety.
