Hello, my name is Ryan McCabe, I'm the chief executive of Audrey, the UK's number one video tech for recruiters. And today I'm joining the great guys at Social Talent to tell you a bit about video interviewing during the current climate and just generally video interviewing from now on. So like a recorded video call. And the second one is what we call a solo interview, which is a one way interview where the questions appear on the screen for the candidate and they answer them in their own time without a recruiter being present. Now there are good times and bad times to use each of these and I'm going to explain why. Let's talk about the first type. Live video interviews. It's really comfortable for a candidate. They can come online, they meet with someone, they talk to another human being. It's a much better experience for the candidate and also it gives you the opportunity to go a bit deeper when they answer a question. You can be reactive, you can ask for more information. So it's a really good thing to use in my opinion for the mid to senior market and make sure that you can give them the time straight from the off. The other type of interviews to talk about are solo interviews you might hear usually for the high volume market. You get a lot of applications for your job and you need something to help you screen out those candidates. Then one way asynchronous videos are perfect for this market. They have got other uses in the mid to senior market. For example, if your candidate can't really fit into your timescales, or they can't get into your diaries, can't align for a long time, you can simply type the questions into the system. The system gives you a link. You send that link out to thousands of candidates or that one special senior candidate and they can complete that video in their own time. Another couple of tips on video interviews. It's really important to make sure the candidates understand what's coming and they know that it's not going to take them that long and it's very, very valuable for your process. We've now had hundreds of thousands of video interviews happen now over the years, maybe even into the millions. I've not checked that yet. But the most common, or sorry, not the most common, the most effective length of a video interview is between five and seven minutes. It's just enough so the candidate feels that they can comfortably get all the highlights over an interview. And it's also just enough for the hiring manager or even the recruiter to review that you don't want to be Sitting watching a video for 45 minutes and not really get anything back from just wastes a lot of time that you probably don't need to spend. So the two main types are live video interviews and solo video interviews. They've both got the part to play. So if you are looking to go and step into the world of video interviewing and you want to record videos so that all of the hiring managers and the recruiters can get a good view and evaluate the exact same interview that everyone else is, I highly recommend that you pick a system that has both options available to you and make sure you can cover the whole recruitment process from here on. Let's talk about post pandemic. Let's talk about how you can make sure that you're using the interviews as a way of working rather than just to get you through this. It's really important that you let every stakeholder know so you let your colleagues know, you let your hiring managers know, and you let the candidates know what the process looks like from start to finish. Will it be an estimated six week process? Will it be an eight week process? And how much time can you save with videos on average? The average we save in a time to hire is upwards of 40%. 40% of your time. If you have a 10 week process from start to finish, we're getting that down to six. And that's because we can save even alone. All we need to save as the is the diary alignment for meeting people and we've done our job. Look, there are only two types of video interview you need to care about. It is the live video interview and the one way or the solo video interview. Good luck and happy video interviewing from all at odro.
