Deep-tech founders need to start funding applications three months early. Company registration takes a month alone, plus you need partnerships, vendor quotes, and team biosketches. If you're targeting January, start next week to avoid holiday delays.

If this is your first time, start 3 months. There's a lot that goes into those 3 months. Not only are you writing the application, you have to also go through the mandatory company registrations that can take at least a month. There might be partnerships, there might be subcontractors and vendors and quotes that you have to go through. I'm telling all my startups to start right now because rounding up subcontractor documents, quotes, and reaching out to your teammates just to get biosketches can be a nightmare when they're on Thanksgiving and winter break. So if anyone's going after the January deadline, I recommend start next week.
