Carl Abbott's Tropical Ranch house uses glass and steel to frame views of pasture and horses across 10 acres. The master bathroom opens onto a garden with a cantilevered beam visible from the tub, and curved rooflines and floating beams integrate the design with the surrounding landscape.

This is entering the Carl Abbott Tropical Ranch house, and you can see you're walking underneath this— this is completely covered space all the way into what is actually going to be a screened-in porch. This is screened in all the way down, and the entry into the guest bedrooms is down that way. And then this whole structure, this big steel structure, is all glass. And you're going to enter through a series of doors here and walk into the whole kitchen area on the right side here with systems that are running up above underneath insulated roof deck and all this glass looking out to pasture with horses and just a gorgeous sight. Just a gorgeous sight. Walk into the master bedroom suite. There's a bathroom on the right here, and then this is kind of a multi-purpose room. This will be a study, and then this is the master bedroom. Right here. And you could just see this curved roofline. I'm standing in the position where the master bedroom will be, and there's this big corner glass here. And once again, out to the left, all glass looking out to the pasture. And then back in here is the master Bath, closets, and this whole wall of glass right here. It's hard to see the structure in this light, but that's where the shower and tub are, and it's looking out on this beautiful garden. And when you're sitting in the tub, you're looking at the— this cantilever beam that runs in a radius up to the takes off past the upright wall here. I can hear something in the woods. Sounds like it might be either squirrels or the deer that run through this 10-acre property. That's just an exceptional shot right here. You see these curved sweeping lines of the roof intersecting here. This juts, this one plane, it juts through into the space here. Then back here you'll see this floating beam just comes from the outside in. Just exceptional. Design. Classic school of architecture. Good job, Carl Abbott.
