What Really Goes Down During a Week in NYC

Stephen Curry spends a week in New York hosting a golf tournament at Bethpage Black, touring the Lost Boys Broadway production, visiting Dick's Sporting Goods, and leading a KPMG event on the 103rd floor of the Empire State Building. He shares a prank email story about his Davidson coach Jim Fox and admits to being slightly afraid of heights.

Good.
He comes into practice, Foxy. I'm only doing it just to say I did it. Enjoy the rest of the night. Let's have a great time. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Hey, welcome to the home of the Ryder Cup. We are here at BetPay Black with the underrated Golf Tour Curry Cup Pro-Am, or Am-Am as we would say. Having a great time with the kids who qualified for the tour, you know, allowing them to be in a position where they're playing a championship venue, chasing the 5th annual Curry Cup. Doesn't get much better than this. We're inside the ropes where they played the 2025 Ryder Cup and giving these kids a first-class experience. So selfishly, I'm a little spoiled today as well. I get to play this course. I've never been out here before. Heard so much about it, seen it on TV. So I'm just excited that we get to share it not only with the Curry Cup kids, all of our amazing sponsors, their families, but all y'all watching as well. So I'm gonna see if I can go low today, challenge some of these, these young talented golfers, but probably not.
Very nice.
We like that one, Coach. This course is so hard. One, because of the length. Two, because the tee shots, there's always like some curvature going on. Like you hit a shot straight, but the fairway kind of slopes at an angle. Angle in different, different directions. So you got to be very precise with the shot that you want to hit. And then there's like subtle elevation changes to green. Second shots are tough because you can't really see the putting surface most of the time. It's one of these courses that makes you think on every shot, which for a tournament makes it really hard because you're one shot away from having that disaster. But I'm thinking positive today, you know. Come on, do it! Hit it! Do it!
Hit it!
Hit it! Oh, I got a great story about that guy right there. Mr. Jim Fox, assistant coach for the Davidson Wildcats. My sophomore year, in the basketball office, he had like a little desk that we always used to hang out at in between classes or before practice. One day he left his computer open, and so I got a hold of his email and I emailed the whole team. There was a lady named Heather Bliss. That was the, uh, either lacrosse or field hockey coach. I can't remember. There was always this joke that they were kind of noticing each other, but they weren't a thing. They weren't an item or anything. So I got his email and I sent a blast email to the entire team saying, hey guys, I just want y'all to be the first to know that I proposed to Heather Bliss yesterday and she said yes. And, you know, I'm so excited, but just kind of keep it on the download because— I don't want the whole campus to know yet, but I just wanted y'all to be the first to know. Sent it out to the whole team, coaches included, and then obviously deleted the inbox right after. We get to practice the next day, and my power forward, Andrew Lovedale, who's the nicest, most generous guy ever, he reads the email and he comes into practice, Foxy! Foxy, I'm so happy! Congratulations! Oh my God! And Foxy has no idea what he's talking about. And it just became one after the other. Everybody who came into practice was just congratulating Foxy. He had no clue. And then even when they mentioned Heather's name, it was always the running joke, not that he was, uh, he was officially engaged. I think it lasted 3 days. How did he know? How did he find out? We eventually had to give in because we didn't want to embarrass Heather the next time they saw each other. Because I was pretty sure that one of our teammates was going to go talk to Heather and say the same thing, like, hey, so happy for you and Foxy. And she would have no idea what we were talking about. There you go. Nice, nice. 1, 2, 3. Yes, yes, thank you. All right, so good luck this week. Go get it. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Have fun this week. Boy, we got a day. My man Marcus hooked it up. We're at the Lost Boys studio, our theater, the Palace Theater. We are 5 months into production now, Marcus?
Sounds right.
We're gonna show you a little bit of the, uh, the magic behind the unbelievable production of Lost Boys on Broadway.
So they have this on.
Underneath their costume.
No way. You really can't tell. So they like put them on and then take them off when they don't need them. So they're not— because it's not— wow. You can't be like— yeah, yeah.
It's the slow sashay across the stage.
One to start to do your induction because you can go up quite high, and then we're gonna put you on Michael's line.
Okay.
There she is.
There she is.
Yeah, so it's called a 2-point harness.
Okay.
Because you— there's 2 points.
Great. Yeah.
That is a little bit of product for— Yeah, it's very thin.
Let's trust.
Yep. We're just gonna like do a little balance check really quick. So yeah, sit to your harness and then just tilt forward. Like with feet off the ground? So you'll just be like— your body's gonna be into this position.
Here, you can give me your hands. Give me your hands. We're gonna tip you forward.
Hey!
Even more.
Good. Yeah. And then just feel what it's like now. Bring your arms behind you. Yep. And just do the opposite. Yeah.
Take your arms to a T.
Think about bringing one knee to your chest. Yeah, I got you. Uh-huh. Yeah. And then come up. Yeah. So there's just that availability to pitch forward and to go back. Okay. That is of course dependent on where your arms are in the line. Okay. But why don't we just do your Normal. Want to just go up a little bit? Okay, so let's bring one arm forward, one arm back, whichever you prefer. Yeah, and even sitting there to see if you can— yeah. Ew.
When I was young. Yes.
Yeah, good feet.
Yeah, yes.
Yeah, directionality. Yeah, cuz I'm spinning.
Yeah, you don't need much Sort of like activate that and like tip you. Just take your arms out in front of you. Hey! And find that balance there. Now bring them to the fore, uh, fore just a little bit more.
So you see how that tips you a little bit? Yeah, yeah.
Like you're diving into the pool.
Try to let your head be with the rest of the spine because the head actually weighs a lot. Yeah.
Tuck your chin just a little bit. Trust it.
There you are. Yeah, so that's the bathroom. Wow. Yeah. Hey. Yeah, let's go.
I'm all the way up.
Oh, that's sick. Like even there, like for the guys, right? Yeah. This you can touch.
Yeah.
To orient yourself and you can touch this.
We're down here.
That is incredible.
There, up there. Oh, that's the one where you like—
Yeah.
Okay. So, and like the rule of thumb is you'll always keep like this going, you know, because that's the heartbeat. You know, it's about the heartbeat. And then in the back.
Yeah. Yeah.
I'm not doing anything right now. Yeah, but feel it out, whatever you want to do. And then here's the rhythm again. Build it, and then back to the rhythm. Yeah, yeah, there you go. Oh yeah, keep it going. Again with the rhythm. Rock out. That's probably as far as we'll go. That was great. All right.
That's amazing.
Absolutely.
You're doing amazing, Stephen.
Huh?
You're doing amazing, sweetie. I needed it.
Oh my gosh. All right.
Is there anything the three of you can play together, or is it so loud in here?
Take it off. Take it off.
Yay!
Y'all make it so smooth, man. Thank you very much. Absolutely.
That was amazing.
It was incredible.
Is this the best date night ever?
That is actually— that is what we're turning this into, because you, you've been here behind the scenes plenty of times in the, the pre—
Proud co-producer.
Exactly. But to be on the other side now where you're actually flying— you video called me when they were just initially doing the choreography for the vampires and all of that. And so now, whatever, 8 months later, you're out there.
You've seen a lot of deleted scenes.
That part.
But that is not for the weak. Like, to have to do that every single night is intense. It takes talent on top of the talent that they already have to have to be on that stage. You probably won't get to do what we did today. But you should come and have your date night here at The Lost Boys. You will not regret it.
Absolutely. I've seen it 6 times. She's probably seen it 10 times.
A plethora.
Yes. And you get something different from it every time, which is our favorite part.
Yeah, truly.
Absolutely. So hopefully this behind-the-scenes kind of glimpse gets you in the seats. Come sit in the seats.
Yeah. And next time we come, we're sitting in the mezzanine for sure.
That part.
That part.
All right, so it's Curry Cup week. We're out here in New York. Bethpage Black is an unbelievable host venue. I got to play in the Pro-Am with some of the kids, and it reminded me how much of a golf nerd I am and a tinkerer, as we call it, with equipment. So we're gonna head into Dick's Sporting Goods, see what I can tweak— my grips, some other things that might help me get my gamer bag ready to go. I think I'm in the right spot, but I came in, I was looking at some grips to maybe give a try. Let's try these. Awesome. Whatever you need. I need all the irons, and then I'm still trying to figure out what woods I'm putting in the bags. I'll wait for right now. Let's see if you can check the lie and the lofts on these. And while you're tinkering away, let me know. I'll go check out some more stuff. He makes it look easy. I might be back if it goes well or not. I'll let you know. Absolutely. Have a good one. She's had a day. We went from flying 31 feet in the air at Lost Boys to rock climbing at Dick's Sporting Goods House of Sports. Right foot black.
No, I'm doing it. Oh, wait.
Yeah. Yeah. I call that 70%. 70th percentile ain't bad. What a day. This is what y'all came to see, the finale of the Underrated Golf Tour Season 5. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5th. Anything you say, 5th. All the kids out here having a great time. Young men and women ready to take on the last day. Kind of a stacked leaderboard on both sides. A lot of people in contention, but we're gonna Send them off on the first tee, let them go compete, do their thing, catch them on the last 6 holes and see who comes out with the Curry Cup trophy for season 5. That's dope. The OG of the Underrated Tour. She was 13 when she showed up and won the very first year. Now she's at Georgia taking on college golf. Underrated Tour has been a part of her life for 5 years. Little parting gift for your boy. That'd be a bold move walking on the first tee with this on my driver, but we gonna put it in play.
Yeah!
She got it done. I think Evan got it done in the boys division. So about to go crown the 5th Curry Cup champs. Let's get it done. Beth Paige Black showed out. Warm welcome to each and every single one of y'all to the Underrated Golf Tour finale party tonight here at Tao. I want to thank Tao for inviting us in and letting us have a home for tonight. So thank you, Tao.
For everybody who's out on the course today, How about that?
It was a beautiful environment, beautiful competition. Y'all give it up for Beth Paige Black. I'm gonna use a basketball analogy. Like, you hire people that are champions in their specific role. You know, this person, be a communicator and be in charge of every single communication that goes to every single player, every single parent, every single partner. It's one of the most important things about our team. This person probably already knows who I'm talking about, and so she's gonna get really mad at me when I bring her up here to have to give a speech. So, recipient is Miss Dominique Anderson. All right, last day of the Curry Cup. We got the KPMG Leadership Development Day. It's kind of crazy having the kids here. We're at the Empire State Building. I've never been here before. We're gonna go to the 103rd floor. I haven't told them that I'm a little afraid of heights. Let's go get it done, hang out with the kids, and give them all the view of the New York City skyline. Let's go. I marvel at these feats all the time because there's no way that you'd have me up top leaning on that ledge doing any type of this construction. I mean, obviously, if I had to, you'd try to figure it out, Shout out to all of them. It's an incredible feat, especially at the times that they were building. Dangerous work. Oh my gosh.
Woo-hoo!
I got the adrenaline flowing this morning now. That is incredible. Bro, this is the craziest thing I've ever— I'm kind of afraid of heights, and this— my heart rate is probably at like 180 right now. Like it's the middle of the 4th quarter. Oh my gosh.
Oh my God.
All right, yeah, don't even look over there. Just you walk that way. We're gonna do this together, people. We're gonna get through this together. Oh my God. I'm only doing it just to say I did it. All you BASE jumpers and people flying out of planes and stuff like that, shout out to y'all. You better than me, Mariah. No. Can you get a photo of the two of you together? Yes. All right, that's it, you're stuck here. I'm— yeah, I appreciate y'all. That don't mean y'all are done, I'm just done. You know your geography, your New York geography? Oh, we know, we know. The Twin Towers were over there. Yeah, that's the One World Center. Yeah, then you got Brooklyn is that black building over there in the corner. That's Brooklyn. And then in the distance behind the World Trade One World Center is Staten Island. So where the water is, Statue of Liberty. Statue of what? In the Staten Island. That's all Jersey. New Jersey's over there. That's all Long Island. Queens is over there. And then the Bronx is back that way. I don't want to be redundant, but it's the work that gives you the irrational confidence. It might be a little delusional at times, but that's kind of this part of the secret sauce. I really think I'm supposed to make this shot, and that's why I'm going to shoot it. And I kind of will deliver the result. Got it! Hey, hey! Hey! I gotta try that move though. I'm gonna put that one in the league. Cash!
Hey! Appreciate y'all. Uh-huh.
Yes, sir. Let's go. Your uncle be proud. That's what I'm talking about. Great work. Great work. Don't leave me hanging. Great work. Great work. Great work. See that right there? The Curry Cup 2026. Out here in New York. We had a great time. Bethpage Black, Empire State Building. Thank you so much. It's about these kids. Year 6 coming soon.
