Susan Britton MCC breaks down ICF PCC Marker 7.5: coaches share an observation using tentative language like "I'm noticing," then invite the client to respond with questions like "What's your read on that?" The key is staying curious and non-attached to your observation, never presenting it as absolute truth.

Susan with the Academies, and we have been covering the ICF PCC Markers #7 for AVOX Awareness, and I wanted to get in something about 7.5. I've offered tips on 7.5 before, but just wanted to reinforce that that is the marker that has to do with the coach sharing their observations, their intuitions, their thoughts, their concerns as part of the coaching conversation. And find the other tips from the Academies around 7.5 if you'd like. The biggest thing that I wanted to offer around that is is that you have to have two parts to that particular marker, and one is the actual observation that you're sharing, and then the second one is inviting the client to respond to whatever it is that you've shared. So that invitation could be something like, what's your read on that? How does that land? What are your thoughts? Would you want to explore that? How is that sitting with you? Those would be clear invitations to be able to explore something. So be super careful when you're sharing an observation with someone that you're not delivering sort of with attachment, ex cathedra, as if this is truth. And instead just saying, "I'm noticing," or, "This thought's coming up," and then follow with that invitation to explore. And that will put you in good stead with ICF 7.5 marker for evokes awareness.
