Susan with the Academies, and I'm out finishing up some tips during my walk and talking about ICF PCC markers for number 7, evokes awareness. And marker number 7.7 talks about the client being, or rather the coach being, clear and concise. So I'll try to make this clear and concise. The fastest way to practice this is to record your sessions with permission, or even record conversations with friends, family members with permission, and then go back and get a transcript and look at the transcript and ask yourself, could I have made that shorter? Could I have made that more concise? Am I getting wordy? Am I adding too many descriptions? Am I adding too much context? The more succinct that you can get without losing the meaning of your questions and your observations, the better you're going to serve the client, and then they won't have to translate in their brain as many words. The fewer words that they have to translate, the faster they're going to be able to get to their own insights.
