In this trailer for Season 2 of the "Future of You" podcast, host Tracey Follows—futurist and founder of Future Made—introduces the series’ central premise: the emergence of a third dimension of self, technology, alongside biology and psychology. She outlines the season’s investigative focus on how everyday technologies are reshaping personal identity, posing provocative questions about AI‑driven identity creation, the multiplicity of virtual selves, and the impact of potential immortality. The trailer references upcoming episode topics such as digital death, robot rights, cryogenics, the extreme self, and the Web3 economy of the self, and features brief commentary from other speakers emphasizing the fluid, ever‑changing nature of identity. Listeners are invited to subscribe and follow the fortnightly releases to explore these future‑oriented discussions.
Chapters
What role will AI play in identity creation and representation? Is identity now merely a fantasy? How many identities do we want, or will we need, in virtual reality? How does identity change with immortality?
Our identities are always going to be developing, under assault, changing, morphing. That's just a fact of life today.
During the second season of The Future Review podcast, I'll be taking a detailed look at who we are and how the technology we use every day is shaping who we are becoming. It's clearer than ever that the biology of the self and the psychology of the self has now been joined by a third dimension: the technology of the self.
We want to live healthy lives with longer, maybe 100 years, maybe 200 years, however longer. Do we really want to stay in this biosphere? Maybe, maybe not. Others may opt for my design, Prima Posthuman, and have a prosthesis to exist within in this biosphere and upload or transfer memory and cognitive properties into other worlds.
I'm Tracey Follows, futurist and founder of Future Made, the futures consultancy. Join me as I speak with professors and philosophers, futurists and technologists, to discover more about how emerging technologies are impacting our identity and what what we might want to do about it. I'll be releasing new episodes every fortnight, focusing on topics such as digital death, robot rights, cryogenics, the extreme self, the Web3 economy of the self, and so much more.
The very fact that we have this focus on the notion of identity, I think that is a relatively new thing, and that has to do with the fact that the identity is no longer simply that clear.
Make sure you subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts so you don't miss the first episode when it's released in a few weeks' time. Let's continue our journey into identity in the digital world, exploring what's ahead for the future of me and the future of you.
