You can't survive as a fractional CFO if you only see yourself as a fractional cfo. You've got to evolve beyond that. You have to take on this identity that you're also a marketer. You have to take on this identity that you are a salesperson. It doesn't matter how good you are at the CFO stuff if you never have any clients to do that stuff for. And no clients means no impact, but it also means no revenue. A lot of fractional CFOs that I talk to, they'll say, mike, I suck at marketing or I suck at sales. And I'm like, look, that's okay. A lot of marketers and a lot of salespeople suck at what they do. Your job is to shift your mindset to I'm a marketer that isn't great yet, or I'm a salesperson that still got a few things to figure out. Distinction matters. Because if you keep telling yourself that you're just not good at marketing or that you just don't like sales, you're never going to get any better at it and you're going to stay broken.
