Tim Arrigo tells fathers that daughters learn how to expect to be treated by watching how fathers treat their wives. Opening doors, speaking kindly, and romancing versus yelling and blaming are the templates daughters internalize and carry into their own relationships.

She's watching you. They're watching you all the time. Dads, your daughters are watching you. And dads, you're not teaching your daughter how to be a woman. You're teaching your daughter how a woman should be treated. So my question for you is, what are you modeling in the home? How are you treating your wife? Because I don't know if you know this or not, but you know your daughter is gonna learn that that's how you treat a woman, and she's gonna go after a man that models that behavior. Do you treat your wife with respect? Do you talk nicely to your wife? Do you build confidence in your wife? Do you affirm your wife? Do you do things for your wife? Do you open the door for your wife? Do you romance your wife? Do you dance with your wife? Or do you yell at your wife? Do you take out your anger on your wife? Do you blame your wife? Do you use your wife as a shield? Do you let your wife down? Are you not a man of your word? Does your wife get neglected because of the behaviors that you're still nurturing? See, your daughter is watching that. Our daughters are watching. And as men, we have to be accountable and responsible to the fact that we are teaching our daughters subconsciously how a man treats a woman. And they're watching, they're watching. They're watching you. So if you're a man who's struggling with this, right, it's time, right, to change. It's time to adjust and modify the behaviors that are causing you to be less of a father, less of a man, and causing your daughter to assume that the way that you behave is the way that every man behaves in a way that she should be treated by the man that she's going to be with. Don't go complaining. Don't go complaining when your daughter finds a man that treats her poorly. Don't go complaining because you are the template. You were the model for that and no one else is responsible for that except for you.
