Tim and his wife talk about why gratitude matters in marriage. She appreciates that he doesn't catastrophize or play the victim, which makes him more attractive and supportive. Tim says husbands should create a secure, optimistic culture by managing their thoughts and recognizing their blessings.
Driving here on a date night with my wife. We're going on a date tonight to go see a concert, meet up with another couple, actually a gentleman who's in the Total Breakthrough Academy. And my wife was sharing, she said, you know what I'm so grateful for? And she was sharing something I thought was really important for both husbands and wives to hear.
I was like, hon, you know what? I'm so grateful that you're not like, that you don't like catastrophize anything. You're not like, negative, um, what was the other thing, negative, or like a victim. Like, you just, you don't ever like catastrophize anything, or like, and that would just be so unpleasant to be around. Like, that would just like, yeah, like unattractive and like just decrease my quality of life. And like, I'm just grateful. I'm so grateful. Like, Tim's not perfect, but like, he's never negative and he's never a victim and he doesn't like just catastrophize, like, oh, like, I love that. So grateful.
That's why it's so important, like, you create the culture inside your marriage as a husband. I mean, where's your mindset at? You got a lot to be grateful for, I'm sure, just like I do. And it's very easy to be negative or cynical or pessimistic or skeptical or whatever that is, but control your mind because your wife feels secure and safe when you're able to provide that positive mindset. We have to manage our mind, because I mean, these are the people in our lives. I mean, think about it. It's like, this is my wife. What, what do I have to— why would I even be tripping? How could I not be grateful for the life I have? And sometimes you need to take a look too at who's riding shotgun with you. Who's your ride or die? You need to consider, right? And think about it. When you look around at your life, you got a lot to be grateful for. We all do. We're still breathing here on this earth, and we got a relationship with God. And no matter the ups and downs, you got to keep your mindset on point.
