(created 2023-06-17). The excerpt is a spoken monologue by Tim Arrigo in which he recounts a client anecdote and offers relationship advice: arguing that when men fail to lead or reliably handle responsibilities, their partners become anxious, take control, and appear "controlling" or "alpha"—which he frames as a cry for help rather than true dominance.

The group call earlier and a client tells me, he says, Tim, it's like my wife is so controlling. It's almost like she wants to be the alpha in the relationship. I said, well, what do you think? Your wife wants to be the alpha because you're not leading. And when you're not leading, right, then she feels fear and anxiety because her security is dependent upon your productivity and reliability and consistency. And so when you're not doing the things you need to be doing, everybody around you is getting nervous. It's like, because they can't truly trust you. And when people can't trust you, then they just want to take it into their own hands. They just want to do things that you're not doing and they want to follow through. And it's almost like out of spite. And so now people are becoming resentful and bitter, and your wife has to become more than independent because now she has to take on a bunch of the responsibilities that you're supposed to be doing. And you're getting upset because it appears like she's being controlling. But the only real reason she's being, quote unquote, controlling is because she's having to take responsibility of things that you should be really handling. So the real reality is, don't see it as control, see it as a cry for help.
