Fighting For What Truly Matters

A speaker challenges men to distinguish honorable battles from ego-driven conflicts. Most arguments with wives drain energy without serving core values like leadership, family, and integrity. Fighting only battles aligned with these values restores power, freedom, and peace.

The next time you get in an argument with your wife, you need to ask yourself this one question: Is this an honorable battle? See, as men, a lot of times we get swept into battles that are not honorable. They're not honoring God. They're not worth our time and energy. And what happens is we allow these situations, these conflicts, we allow these circumstances to drain our vital energy and resources. We give our power away to the external environment, a part of the way our ego operates. Needing control, needing to be right, needing to prove my point. They are not honorable battles. Honorable battles are battles that are aligned with our values as men, our core values. Values like leadership, values like our family, values like marriage, values like integrity, values like spirituality. Values in our life— physical health, mental health, emotional well-being. We have to behave in accordance with our value system. See, when you have a large division between your internal values and your external behavior, when you have a large division between how— what you believe and how you behave, what you're going to have is incongruence in your life. You're going to be like a house divided, and a house divided, my brother, cannot stand. God has called you to live a radical life, and a radical life means I only put forth my energy and my— I only put forth a spirit, right, where I need to do warfare in things that are honorable. I only fight honorable battles. I don't engage in passive aggression. I don't engage in name-calling. I don't engage in raising my voice. I don't engage in conversations that are unhealthy, things that I clearly have identified as toxic and dysfunctional in my life. I do not engage in it. I don't engage in vices, self-destructive behaviors. I don't engage in battles that are not honorable, because that time and that energy is a valuable thing, my brother. That time and that energy that you got in there, that's a valuable thing, man. Don't let anybody steal that from you. Don't give your power away like that, man. Can you imagine how much more powerful you would be if you only fought honorable battles in your life? Things that were only honorable to a cause that you could stand by and say, yeah, that's worth fighting for. My marriage is worth fighting for. My family is worth fighting for. These things in my life are honorable battles that I should be willing to fight, but all the rest of that is a waste of my time, money, energy, freedom, and peace of mind. And well, what do we know about peace? Peace is the opposite of fear, because God didn't give you a spirit of fear. He gave you a spirit of power, love, and of a sound mind. Inner peace is a sound mind. You want a sound mind? You want to bring back peace into your life? You want to restore peace into your life? Only fight honorable battles, because everything else isn't worth your time or energy.
