How your conscious mind is controlled

Tim Arrigo explains how your focus shapes what you feel. When you fixate on scarcity, you feel lack. When you focus on progress and gratitude instead, you feel better. Your conscious mind follows where you point your attention.

Where are you placing focus and attention? Whatever you focus on most, your brain believes is the most important thing in your life. See, most people don't realize that they do have to pay attention. They pay attention in terms of what they become conscious and aware of. See, in my life, I always used to think about where I couldn't go or what I couldn't achieve or where I wouldn't be. Right? I always lived in a deficit. I always lived in lack because I always focused on what I didn't have. How many of you have ever had this experience? You buy a new vehicle, and within a month of owning that vehicle, you drive that vehicle off the lot. Within a month of owning that vehicle, you start seeing that vehicle everywhere on the road, right? That's, that's because your focus and attention was on that vehicle so much, right? That your brain brought it into your conscious awareness because you were telling yourself that it was important, right? You're at a large dinner table. You're having cross-conversations, right? You're at a dinner table with maybe 8 to 10 people. You have a cross-conversation with somebody across the table from you, and all the other voices, all the other conversations fade away as you're focused on the one conversation that you're having, right? You're so focused on an idea, an invention, a goal that you have, right? And you overhear somebody talking about it at a coffee shop. You flip through a magazine, you see a magazine ad that correlates to that thing that you were focusing on. See, where you place focus and attention is where your brain believes the value is in your life. See, so many people don't realize this. If I always focus on what I don't have, then what do I become aware of? Everything I don't have, right? So most people don't realize they're creating a reality, they're creating a program, they're living in the fucking matrix. A self-imposed matrix that they created because their focus and attention is on everything that they don't have. So my question for you today is, what are you focusing on? Now, if we know we can control what we focus on, then my question is, why aren't we doing it? Why aren't we doing it? Because what we focus on also determines how we feel, because how we think determines how we feel. So if I'm focused on what I don't have, then what am I going to feel? Shame, guilt, self-loathing, negativity, right? Depression, anxiety. And those emotional states can become addictive. Yeah, they can become addictive. Why? Because they're chemical in nature. So today I want to encourage everybody, pay attention to where you're paying attention, because you will pay attention, and you'll pay in the form of how you're going to feel. You want to live in states of gratitude, serenity, contentment, joy? Like, how do you want to live? Do you truly want to be happy? Because happiness is not a feeling. Happiness is a state of mind. Happiness is a byproduct of solving problems, number one. And number two, focusing on the things that matter most to you in your life and moving towards those things. Happiness is equal to progress. So as we progress, right, you see somebody get off the scale, they lost 1 pound, and they're smiling because they're happy. They come back from the gym, all they got is a little blood flow, a little post-pump, right? And they're smiling, they're happy because they feel like they're progressing. They're progressing towards something. So if we're focusing on what we don't have, then we feel like we're digressing. And how do we feel? A correlating emotional state— negative. And if we focus on where we're going, what we have, what we have to be grateful for, right? The goals that we have, those things come into our conscious awareness and we start to become aware of what the path is to actually get there. Don't wait until it's too late. Realize that you have control over what you focus on, and focus plus attention equals value. See, focus and attention are the brain's currency. So we do pay attention. We pay for it.
