A speaker argues that real strength comes from mastering your own communication and self-control, not from aggressive speech or dominating others. He contrasts ego-driven dialogue that breeds fear with assertive, compassionate communication that builds trust. True power, he says, is internal mastery: a lion doesn't need to prove itself.
Chapters
It's time that you learn how to use your communication as a tool instead of a weapon. See, you injure the people around you with the words that you say, and you don't realize that people walk on eggshells around you. You become unapproachable, and your tongue has the power of life and death, and you're speaking death over the people that you love. And see, people are remembering these things you're saying, and you can't take that back. And so you say these things out of anger. You communicate with aggression instead of assertiveness. You don't communicate with compassion. You don't communicate with love. You don't communicate with assertiveness. You're not direct. What you are is aggressive. What you are is offensive. And see, nobody needs to communicate like that unless they truly have something to hide. Why do you need to be right? Why do you got to choose ego over commitment? One of the most powerful things is when you become a good communicator, when you learn how to negotiate, compromise, see things from somebody else's point of view. These are all things that make you a strong and powerful man. Not only in the workplace but at home as well. Your communication skills are one of the most powerful tools you have. Language and the language that you use are powerful tools. Not only the language that you tell yourself, but the language that you speak around other people. Are you a man that you admire? Are you a man that you look up to? Are you a man that carries himself like a gentleman? Do you follow the code? Do you fight only honorable battles? Or are you nitpicking every little thing that everybody around you is doing because those are the only things in your life that you can control? Can't control what goes on in the inside, so you try to micromanage and control everything on the outside. And don't you realize you've done that your whole life? Try to fix the inside from the outside. But where is that taking you? To a place of true powerlessness. Because nobody would need to do that unless they felt that on the inside. True power, true self-control, you just emanate that energy. You don't need to force other people, you don't need to push your way, you don't need to have everything go your way on the outside. Why? Because you can manage and control everything on the inside. That's somebody with true power. That's somebody who doesn't need to give their power away to people, places, and things. Does a lion need to prove that he's a lion? That's what I thought.
