In this talk, Tim Arrigo urges married men to actively rebuild emotional intimacy with their wives, arguing that physical intimacy follows emotional closeness. He explains that wives constantly make small emotional "bids"—like pointing out a beautiful sunset or sharing something important—and men often ignore them. Rather than focusing solely on reducing negativity, Arrigo advises increasing the number of positive interactions, which creates a buffer that makes occasional lapses feel temporary. He stresses the importance of verbally expressing appreciation, admiration, and gratitude, warning that many men assume their wives already know their feelings. By consistently validating and affirming their partners—making "deposits" into the emotional bank account—men can boost their wives' self‑esteem, strengthen connection, and foster greater intimacy and love.

So your wife makes these little bids, right? Hey honey, look how beautiful that sunset is, and you don't even look up from your phone. Everything you do around this house and everything you do for this family, I'm so grateful, and I'm so blessed to have an amazing woman like you. Share appreciation, brother. You have to share the appreciation, the admiration, the The, the gratitude that you have for your wife needs to be shared. A lot of you guys have an expectation like she already knows it. That's gonna feed the relationship. That's gonna feed when you validate your wife, when you affirm her, when you build her up, when you speak life over her. What does it do?
