Tim Arrigo argues the most toxic relationship you're in is with yourself. Self-neglect, self-deception, and low self-worth spill into how you treat others and repeat chaotic patterns. Change starts by looking in the mirror and holding yourself accountable.

Used to think I was in tons of toxic relationships until I realized the only toxic relationship I was in was the toxic relationship with myself. The way that I treated myself, the way that I lied to myself, abused myself, neglected myself, abandoned myself. And see, when we have a toxic relationship with who we are, when we lack integrity, when we lack leadership skills, when we lack emotional intelligence, when we lack self-worth, when we lack the mindset that we need to achieve our goals. See, that toxic relationship, right, can therefore influence and affect our relationships with other people. So now here you are, because you have a toxic relationship with yourself, you're pushing away people that are actually healthy because what you're used to is the chaos. You're not used to people treating you in a way that you don't treat yourself. You're not used to people loving and caring for you. You're not used to people actually being concerned about you, someone holding you accountable for what you do, right? And so you engage with those people the way that you engage with yourself. You react to those people the way that you react to yourself. You speak to those people the way you speak to yourself. You treat those people the way you treat yourself. The only real toxic relationship you're in is the toxic relationship with yourself. So what are you gonna do? Because you're gonna keep blaming everybody around you, you're gonna keep pointing the finger. Are you gonna do that? Are you gonna sit back, right, from your pedestal and point the finger? Or are you gonna start to look in the mirror and have a conversation with that man in the mirror about why he's not living at his full potential and why he can't seem to keep his word, why he neglects himself, why he abuses and betrays himself? Why he doesn't want more for himself than other people want for him. Because that's the real conversation you should be having.
