The Work is Hard, But Worth It

Tim Arrigo tells men that failing marriages aren't the problem—their own unresolved issues are. Before God can heal a marriage, a husband must let God work through him first, becoming steady and non-reactive so his wife feels the shift.

Here's something I hear all the time. I've done everything and it's not working. Maybe it's time for me to give up on my marriage. Brother, look, if you've ever thought that, then let me tell you something. Number one, you're not alone. Most guys don't give up because they don't care. They actually give up because they've exhausted every single strategy and they can't find anything that works. So let me say this, you don't have marital marital problems. And I, I know you don't have marital problems. You actually have personal problems that affect your marriage. And here's the truth. Before God can do something in your marriage, he needs to do something in and through you. Most guys just aren't confident that in working on themselves, it will transform their marriage. But ultimately, this is exactly how transformation happens because you cannot lead your wife if you're not first leading yourself. You can't teach what you don't embody. And I know it feels counterintuitive, right? Why would I want to focus on me when the problem is us? But here's why it works. It works because when you change, the dynamic of your relationship changes. If you want to change your marriage, change the man that shows up to the marriage. When you stop reacting, when you stop the cycles of defensiveness and arguments and distance, when you show up steady, when you eliminate— when you say, I'm not gonna do dysfunction. When you are grounded and you are clear, brother, this creates space for God to move inside your life and inside your marriage. And right here inside the Total Breakthrough Academy, that's exactly what we do. We teach a strategy that focuses on you, on becoming the man of God that you were created to be— strong, steady, grounded, and in your truth. And when you work on yourself this way, your wife is gonna feel it. She's gonna see the difference It's not in what you say, it's how you are, what you embody. She's gonna notice that you lead differently, that you handle conflict with wisdom, with grace, and that you love her with patience and with strength. And see, as you lead by example, you start to actually teach her. See, not with control, but with love and clarity. You can't change your marriage through dominance. You gotta change it through influence. And this is why it works ev— almost every single time. Because the foundation of your marriage, if you're steady, ultimately your relationship has a chance to actually heal. But if you're reactive and if you're in this state of urgency, the state of fight or flight, nothing's going to change. So my brother, check it out. The question isn't, can my marriage be saved? Of course it can. The real question is, am I willing to let God work in and through me so he can do something in my life? Because giving up is easy, but becoming a man who leads and teaches and loves his wife sacrificially. Well, it's hard, but it's who you're called to be.
