I was talking to a client earlier and he told me, Tim, my wife holds back the love that she has for me. She has so much love to offer me, but yet I feel like she holds back that love. And let me ask you this, bro. So if you think that's a negative thing, if that has like a negative connotation to it, right? Let's turn that around. What if your wife withholding the love from you forces you to stop seeking the external validation that you've sought your entire life and forces you to have a relationship and be put in a position with yourself where you have to learn to love yourself? And what does loving yourself look like? Love is a verb. So that means action. That means investment. That means taking action to become a better man, a better version of me. It means investing in myself and doing the necessary work so I'm not dragging around this ball and chain of my past anymore. I'm not living a life in regret. I'm not denying the things that are in my shadow. I'm not suppressing the emotions that I bury every day. I'm not sabotaging my success with vices. I'm not negotiating and bargaining with a lesser version of myself. I'm not talking down to to myself every day, criticizing myself. See, that is the relation. That is what you need to change, because, brother, you can't give away what you don't possess. How could you ever love her if you don't have a healthy relationship with yourself? A healthy, mature love for you that starts right in here on the inside. And this corridor between your head and your heart. What is— where is your heart posture at in your relationship with yourself? We look around and we think that people are withholding love, they're withholding affection. Maybe that's a gift, right? Maybe that's a gift because maybe before God does something for you, he has to do something in you by getting you to change the relationship relationship you have with you first. So you stop betraying, you stop abandoning, you stop neglecting, you stop abusing you. And guess what? When you have a better relationship with yourself, it's going to naturally transition into your relationship with your wife and others. Because you know as well as I do, nobody with high self-esteem, self-worth, and an overwhelming amount of self-love has the need to talk down belittle and abuse people in their life. So your behavior, right? Behavior never lies. Your behavior truly reveals the fact that you really just don't love yourself.
