Transformative Insights for Troubled Marriages

You feel like it's all a mystery, right? You're confused. Like, how is this happening? How can I be in this position in my marriage when we started off the way that we did? I'm just not clear. What are the meanings and the definitions and the interpretations that I've given all these situations that are happening inside my marriage? My brother, check it out. Do you really think— you're a smart guy. Do you really think at the end of the day that these surface-level situations are creating the magnitude of problems that you're experiencing? Do you really think that these surface-level situations that you're so hyperfocused on right now, that you're just micromanaging and overanalyzing and intellectualizing and picking apart down to the smallest fragment, do you really think that those things have the power to destroy your marriage? I didn't think so. So you and I both know, man to man, that the things that have been destroying your marriage are the things that are going on inside of both of you that you both are unaware of. It's those blind spots. That's why you don't understand it. That's why you can't understand it. And most guys, they get so defeated and they get so discouraged by exhausting their strategy that they're like, you know what, I'm just going to give up. In other words, get divorced. And they end up with an attitude of indifference and apathy, and they think that that's where power is found. Like, yeah, well, you know, I just don't care anymore. Like somehow that gives you power. Hey brother, your power is not found in apathy. Apathy is actually the expression of your powerlessness. It's actually the expression of the power that you don't feel, because apathy is not a move of power. Your indifference is not— it's not where your power is discovered. Your power is discovered inside solution. Your power is discovered in community. Your power is discovered inside strategies and tools and blueprints and an implementation pathway that other brothers can provide for you on a pathway to help you become a better man, to transcend who you were, to create something new, to see things with new vision and new eyes. It's like looking at the night sky And you're frustrated because I keep asking you, hey, what do you see? And you're like, I don't know, stars. Come on, what do you see? I don't know, Tim, stars. I don't know. And then you come on a journey with me where I teach you about astrology, astronomy. I teach you about astrophysics. I teach you about the solar system in the universe. And then we stand on that same hillside and I say, hey brother, what do you see? And you laugh and you're like, oh man, see it all, Tim. There's Sagittarius, there's Aquarius, there's Gemini, there's the Big Dipper, Little Dipper. And you start pointing everything out. You now have the ability to have discernment, wisdom. You can make distinctions. You have clarity that you did not have before. That's why you're looking at all these surface-level problems and it's driving you insane. Because you can't figure it out.
