Wake up! You’re in a program!

Tim Arrigo explains how repeated emotions become mental programs we unconsciously seek out, even when they hurt us. We self-sabotage to stay in familiar emotional states. Breaking the cycle means consciously choosing new feelings and stopping the thoughts that reinforce old patterns.
Chapters
Every single day you wake up feeling the same emotions. Those same emotions lead to the same experiences, choices, outcomes in your life. Every single day you feel those same emotions and your emotions go from activation to installation. You activate these emotions, you prolong these emotions, and you download and install them, and it literally becomes your state of being, like a default program. It becomes what you're used to, what feels comfortable, what feels normal, what feels familiar. And so anytime you want step into the river of change. You say you want to feel gratitude, peace, serenity, contentment, but it goes against what you're conditioned to living. And that's why a lot of times you're addicted to what you feel. Yeah, you're addicted to it. Emotions are nothing more than chemicals, chemicals and hormones flowing through your bloodstream. Emotion, energy in motion. When the energy is in motion in your body, you feel it. Hence the term feelings. See, these hormones, these chemicals travel through your bloodstream. They create an experience. Every memory in your life, is connected to an emotion. When you think back on memories in your life, it's connected to an emotion. You remember the way it made you feel. You don't remember, like, memories that are based on semantics, knowledge, concepts. You remember memories that had emotions connected to them. And see, in your life, when you start to step into the river of change, it feels unknown and unfamiliar, and that's why a lot of times you sabotage it. See, self-sabotage isn't about you throwing away what you have because you don't believe you deserve it. Sometimes it is, but a majority of the time, self-sabotage is you walking into the unknown, into a brand new life, feeling differently. And so it's unpredictable, it feels unfamiliar, and there's so much fear involved in that process, so much uncertainty involved in that process, that a lot of times you will sabotage it as a way to feel in control because you're afraid that something might happen that you can't control. So self-sabotage is all about a false sense of security, bringing you back to the familiar, bringing you back to what you know, bringing you back to what is predictable, familiar, known, safe, and appearing like it's not a threat. Your emotional addiction— dropping a crisis, right? Dropping, dropping what you're doing for a potential crisis, absorbing news and other media, other music that takes you back to that emotional state, right? Constantly reliving the past. All these things keep you in these predictable emotional states that you're just conditioned by. You got to break the conditioning, counter-conditioning. You're stuck in a program. You're actually addicted to what you feel. And see, when you heal is when you actually give yourself permission to feel something different. You're so biased to what you feel. You either say, I feel good, or I feel bad. Most emotions that you check in with, you don't realize that you're just conditioned to feel that way. It's what you're used to. You say you want to feel better. I want to be happy. I want to feel good. I want to feel states of joy. I want I want to feel gratitude, serenity, contentment. I want to feel empowered. I want to feel confident. But then you are so conditioned by what you're used to that you look out into the environment to reaffirm your addiction to it. You go think about something from 10 years ago to reaffirm your addiction to shame. You think about something in the future you can't control to reaffirm your addiction to anxiety. You think about something, right, that somebody did to you that you can't get over that to reaffirm your addiction to anger. You are literally stuck in a program of what is familiar, what is known, what feels safe, and what appears like it's not a threat. See, true healing happens when you give yourself permission to feel something different. My question is, how much longer are you gonna wait?
