You can’t continue to be passive and expect things to change

Tim Arrigo argues that passive husbands lose respect and masculinity through people-pleasing and codependency. He describes how a wife's disrespect gets internalized through projective identification, then urges men to stop seeking external validation, communicate assertively, and take decisive action to rebuild attraction and self-worth.

If you are a passive man, a passive husband, this video is for you, brother. Your wife emasculates you because you don't take action. You people please, you placate your wife, you let your wife walk all over you, and inevitably she doesn't respect that. She doesn't respect a man that doesn't carry himself with confidence as a leader. With assertiveness, not aggression, but assertiveness. Why are you not having the hard conversations that you need to have with your wife? Why are you taking a position of passivity, sweeping stuff under the rug, avoidance, procrastination? Bro, that's silently killing your marriage. The passive man sits on the sideline as he watches his marriage deteriorate and doesn't take action. He runs everything by his wife, uses his wife as a shield, and his wife's being upset with him as a scapegoat for why things won't work. Bro, you need to take decisive action. And oftentimes the decisions that you're gonna make, your wife's not gonna be okay with because the things that you've done in the past you haven't succeeded in. You've been a good starter but not a good finisher. You get started on the journey and then you automatically just give up because you have an instant gratification validation mindset. You're so frustrated and upset about the fact that your wife just isn't initially responding right to what you're doing. You get in the— you're like, all right, I'm working on myself, and here you go seeking validation from your wife again. Look at me, I'm working on myself. Look at me. And you're still expecting your happiness to be provided to you by your wife. Brother, you're in charge of your own happiness. That's called codependency. When you allow your wife's feelings towards you to become your feelings towards yourself, that's projection identification. That projective identification— when you start to get projected on, your wife disrespects you, emasculates you, and then what happens is you start to make your wife's feelings towards you your feelings towards yourself. And then what? You become depressed, you become ashamed, you feel less of a man, and you still don't take action, bro. Why do you remain in the dynamic like that? And if— here's the thing— if you're going to remain in that dynamic, then start to take action. Because you can't be in a situation where you're getting controlled and your emotional state is completely dictated by somebody who doesn't respect you, by somebody who might even be cheating on you, by somebody who inevitably doesn't look at you with any hope in their eyes and with any belief in you that you can change. If somebody cuts you down, if they throw shade at you for the choices that you want to make to change your life, stop waiting for the green light, bro. Stop waiting for your wife to validate you. Stop running everything by your wife and looking for and seeking for her validation. You lost yourself. You lost your edge. Get in your own lane. Focus on you. Do more. Be the example. Lead. Invest in yourself. The way to rewire your wife's brain to get her attracted to you again is by stopping pursuing her. Bro, you can't be in this needy energy, this needy begging energy. That's not attractive to your wife. Stop the passivity. Communicate with assertiveness. Step up as a leader. Learn to give yourself your best and accept nothing less. Expect more from yourself than your wife expects of you. Hold yourself accountable. The passive man lets his marriage slowly decay in front of his eyes as his self-worth declines, his self-esteem erodes. But the purpose-driven man, the man who's beyond driven, knows that when he looks in the mirror, regardless of what happens externally, he and he alone, under the authority of God, is responsible for his own happiness.
