Chapters
You got a blended family. You're the father of kids that aren't yours. But are they? Maybe you were put in those kids' lives for a reason. Think about what your absence would have caused and think about the position that you stepped into. And number one, I want to honor you for that. But let me ask you, I know it's difficult at times. Have you thought about avoiding that responsibility or wanting to make an excuse about the fact that they're not your kids, so you get to live at a subpar level and not be the example that they needed in their life? You were called to be that. Yeah, you were called to be that. You were called to be that leading example, that, that living example of the man that they always needed in their life. Your influence is so powerful bro. Think about what you've been able to do in their life so far, and then you want to act like it's not your responsibility. You know what? It is, because God put you in that position for a reason. He called you to be in that house. He called you to be in their lives. For what? For you to just sit and be lazy? For you to make excuses? For them to watch you slowly self-destruct, or watch you treat your spouse disrespectfully and without love? Don't compare yourself to the man that's not in the picture. Don't compare yourself to that. Compare yourself to the version of you that you were yesterday. You're not in competition with anybody else. You're in competition with yourself. Your competition is your ego. Your competition is your procrastination, the knowledge you neglect, the negative behaviors that you're nurturing and the changes that you're choosing not to make. Compete against that.
