Your Marriage Is Not The Problem

Tim Arrigo tells men that marriage problems start with themselves, not their partner. He argues that healing personal wounds, finding your purpose, and breaking family patterns matter more than fixing the relationship itself.

Your marriage doesn't need help, so stop trying to fix your marriage because you don't have marital issues. You have personal issues that affect your marriage. And ultimately, what I want to tell you, brother, is even if you got back to a place where you won your wife back or got your wife back or solved your marital issues, did you really innovate who you were? Did you really get to a place where you found purpose again? Because all these experiences over the last 10, 20 years, what it's done is it's drained you of your vital energy. You're a guy that wants to help others. You're a guy with a big heart who would take the shirt off his back to give it to another person because that's who you are, and that's a testament to your character. And the one thing that you're missing right now is your ability to speak into other people's lives. See, what happens when you get to a position, right, where you've solved your inner conflict, where you've solved your marital strife, where you've solved the problems in your life, you know where you get to? A place where you're focused on legacy, you focus on sustainability, you focus on becoming the 2.0 version of you that feels like he's living in alignment with his God-given purpose. You get to a place where you're able to impart everything that you've learned and gained through all of your own experiences of overcoming adversity onto somebody else. You break generational patterns. And you know what happens? Generational trauma continues until someone is willing to feel the pain. Pain will continue until someone feels it. Will it be you? Are you willing to feel the pain? Are you willing to face the pain? Are you willing to get real about what needs to change inside your family, your legacy? It's not just about outcomes— my marriage— all that's the tip of the iceberg, bro. You're thinking small. Those problems, once you solve them, you realize that puts you in a position where now that you've overcome that, you're going to be so excited about that, you're going to live in a state of higher consciousness where you're just going to want to serve others. What does this world tell you? Oh, make it about you, do what's best for you. When in reality, brother, that's not living a life of purpose. That's living a life of selfishness and self-centeredness where all we think about is us. You know as well as I do, purpose comes from service. Purpose comes from being that man who's out there in the community being a better man. Look at what's happening to men right now in, in the United States, all over the world. Look what's happening to men being emasculated by society. Men losing their strength, losing their direction. Great men falling to the wayside. I don't want that to be you. Hear me out, bro. I don't want that to be you. This is a call to action for you. You're a good man. You got a good heart. Don't let the external world do this to you. Don't let the external world harden your heart. God, you got so much greatness inside. You got so much to offer this world. And I'm telling you from experience, because I was you, I was there. And the world hardened my heart. And so what? I didn't want to give or receive love. I was just emotionally shut off. Brother, that's no way to live, because when you detach from what's painful, you detach from everything that you're grateful for too, from all the beauty in your life. Brother, there's a purpose greater than what you can see right now. God works all things together for the good of those who know him. And love him and believe in him. And do you really think that God is going to waste this? Come on, bro, don't waste this pain. Don't stay a man with a hardened heart who just becomes bitter and lives his life in isolation. You were meant for more. Don't settle for mediocrity, bro, because it's killing you. It's eating away at your soul. It's your time, man, and this is the permission slip that you've been waiting for.
