In this brief talk, Tim Davies argues that the business analyst/business partner role is more impactful than the architect role. While architects excel at understanding system design, business analysts uniquely bridge IT and business by deeply understanding customer needs, identifying how technology can address those needs, and articulating solutions for implementation. Davies emphasizes that this role combines people‑centric insight with technical possibilities, and it remains essential even without direct involvement in building the solution.

I think almost the role is, is bigger than architect. So architect is great for seeing how the system works, but I think the role of business analyst and business partner from IT to business in corporate has always been one of the most underlooked roles and actually is the most impactful one now. So understanding what a customer needs, seeing how technology can be applied to solve that, and describing that in a way that can then be built. Is a role that's going to continue to exist because it combines that peopling, that understanding of a broader space with what's possible, and doesn't necessarily need to be involved in the build.
