This is a June 2024 YouTube interview (Tim Davies) in which the guest describes the evolution of business technologies across their career. In the opening exchange the guest recalls starting as a young bookkeeper when ledgers and purchase records were handwritten and general ledgers were generated manually, illustrating the labor-intensive bookkeeping practices that preceded computerized accounting.

But it is a fascinating journey. So tell me a bit about your journey and how technologies changed your businesses over the past. Choose a number of years.
Yeah. Wow. I mean, how far do you go back to think about change? I mean, I go back to, you know, computers just getting introduced into businesses. So when I first started as a young sort of bookkeeper administrator in a business and we wrote the ledgers by hand, everything was done by hand, cross cast by hand, filled out, written, written again, you can imagine how many times you got to keep writing things, because I actually can't. It's incredible. We'd have, we used to have like a purchase ledger, which was a handwritten ledger of every single person you were paying the invoice, how much you paid, when you paid it. And we then you'd actually then generate into general ledgers all by, all by hand.
