Tim Davies argues that fully autonomous HGV fleets are coming, with human drivers shifting to a pilot-like role overseeing operations. Humans will still handle cargo securing and checking at pickup and drop-off, though robots may eventually automate some of those tasks.
What about full self driving fleets? A very exciting opportunity. And I think that's coming. I think that is coming. I think we're further ahead than people realize. There's certainly the manufacturers already working on this stuff already. I think there's going to be, there's going to be a place in the short term for drivers which will look very similar to potentially a pilot of a plane and ultimately goods vehicles, for example. They do need people at either end because part of, part of the process is you transport in stuff from A to B. Right. And you're going to need someone to make sure that stuff's on, that is secure, that it's all there. Obviously to a certain extent. Sometimes robots and that sort of stuff might be able to help that as well.
