Tim Davies argues AI is advancing faster than Moore's Law, doubling every six months versus transistors doubling every two years. As the cost of thinking drops, he says productivity gains will be massive.
Questions this video answers
Every two years.
Every six months.
I'm able to do more with less. And I think that's on the first thing is if you can make yourself faster, then you're more productive. And that's the starting point.
Yeah, absolutely. And I don't think the rate of technology progress is going to slow down. We've had Moore's law since the 60s, which was the doubling of transistors every two years. If we'd had the same advance in the speed of airplanes, passenger jets would be doing more than the speed of light. The advances since the 60s and since 2017, we're seeing scaling laws that are doubling every six months. So AI is moving faster than Moore's Law. And if we'd had Moore's Law and any of the other traditional technologies around us, it would be amazing. So the impact that that increase in thinking and increasing capability and reduction of cost of thinking will have is going to be huge.
