A short YouTube monologue by TJ Walker recounting an anecdote: while watching a loud documentary on his device in an outdoor cafe, he judged others as 'jerks' for similar behavior, until a nearby woman asked him to lower the volume and he realized he lacked self-awareness. The piece models how everyday moments reveal blind spots and encourages building a habit of self-awareness.

Are you self aware? Yesterday I was having lunch in an outdoor cafe and I saw a story about a new movie, a documentary about how America has become a country absolutely filled with jerks. Only it used a stronger word than that. Normally I don't watch video, especially in public, but I couldn't resist. I'm watching the video, it's a lot of noise in the streets. I have the volume up full blast and I remember thinking to myself, wow, this is fantastic. Great documentary idea. And I sure am glad I'm not a jerk like the people they're describing in this movie. Two seconds later, the woman next to me at the cafe says, pardon me, but would you mind turning down the volume? And I realized I was one of the jerks. I hate it when other people have loud video. And I was doing the same thing. I lacked self awareness.
