Communication Secrets: How Inspiration Ignites Action

It's rarely enough to simply convey facts, to go over data points when you're speaking or presenting to someone. Frankly, nobody needs you just for the facts. Everyone can go to their phone, Google it, go to Wikipedia. What's missing in so much communication is that inspirational moment. Now, I don't mean the sort of inspirational speaker who asks you to shoot for the moon and dream about becoming whatever your biggest goal is. I mean, anytime you speak, you need to inspire someone to take a particular action. It could be getting your child to clean the room, it could be getting your spouse to take out the garbage. But facts alone aren't going to do it. You need to fuse your facts with emotion, with problems. Solutions. Tell a story if you can. That's what inspires human beings. Facts alone do not motivate people. If facts inspired people to take action, no one would be overweight, no one would smoke, no one would have pretty much any problem because we have the facts to solve most of those problems. What we lack inspiration. So anytime you're about to stand up and speak, or turn on a zoom camera and just go through the facts, the data, with people, ask yourself, could you do more? Could you actually inspire them to use the facts to take action to improve their lives? That's what real inspiration is all about.
