Hi, I'm calling you know about that job I sent in my resume, you know, for sales. Please call me back.
The ahs and ums, these verbal parasites, they rob us of appearing to sound confident and comfortable. But what do you do? Well, one solution I have is I actually write down the word uh or um on a piece of paper, type it out, then put a red mark right through it and a circle around it, just like no parking, no left hand turn. Then what I do is I cut that out and I tape it to the 12 of my watch or I put it right on my computer screen. So after a week, if I'm looking constantly at my watch that says don't say, don't say, um, I've reprogrammed my brain. And after a while, I can eliminate my speech patterns. No more uhs and uhs.
