How do habits build your identity #shorts

TJ Walker argues that the easiest way to stick with habits is to build your identity around them. Instead of "I'm trying to quit smoking," say "I'm not a smoker." When you change how you see yourself, willpower becomes unnecessary.

The best way to build a habit is to build your identity around it. If you're not a smoker and someone offers you a cigarette, not particularly tempting. I'm not a smoker. You don't have to think about hmm, Smoking is not good for me. Maybe I shouldn't. You don't think about it. It's just I'm not a smoker. If you really want to live a healthy life, a productive life, a happy life, you have to build the identity of who you want to be with, the habits you want. If you're trying to drink less sugar, no coke, eliminate soft drinks, artificial sugars. Don't think of it as I shouldn't drink coke today. Instead, you need an identity of I'm somebody who drinks water. I'm somebody who has healthy drinks only. That's got to be your identity. Do that and you don't have to worry about willpower or self discipline anymore. It's simply your identity. Please follow the TJ Walker habit.
