This short YouTube video (TJ Walker #shorts) explains the idea of status signaling: people seek respect and display status through material items (cars, watches, houses). Walker urges viewers to practice self-awareness—question whether purchases are meaningful or merely status signals—and closes with a prompt to adopt his reflective habit.

Chapters

Know thyself. We've heard that from the ancient philosophers. But what does it really mean? We, as human beings, we all crave status. We all like to be looked up to by other people, especially people we respect. And because of that, we do things that signal our status. That's why people like big, fancy cars and fancy watches and big houses. But if you really want to know yourself, you've got to ask yourself at some point in life, are you doing this thing?
