How to Stop Sounding Like a Robot on Camera

TJ Walker shows how to sound natural on camera: record yourself speaking freely, transcribe it, then feed that transcript to AI with instructions to match your rhythm and phrasing. The AI learns your voice patterns and generates a script you can read from a teleprompter without sounding robotic.

Today on Ultimeyes Discover, you're getting a short practical sample from the Ultimeyes universe. Use this on its own, take one idea and apply it today, or go deeper at ultimeyes.com. Ultimeyes is the world's largest personal development podcast, audiobook, and online learning network. Ultimeyes. Here's one thing you can do today to instantly sound more natural on camera. Before you ask AI to write your script, record yourself talking about the topic for 3 minutes. No script, no outline, just talk, just be yourself. Then transcribe that recording and give it to the AI. Tell it, study this, this is how I actually speak. Use my sentence length, my rhythm, my repetitions, and my natural phrasing. That one step changes everything because most AI scripts sound artificial for one reason: the AI's never heard you. It doesn't know your voice, doesn't know your rhythm, it doesn't know the way you repeat a word when you care about something or the way you pause when you're thinking. So don't start with a blank prompt, start with your voice. That's the quick win. Record yourself first, train the AI second, then use the teleprompter. Third, in this course, I'll show you how to turn stiff artificial scripts into something that sounds human, natural, and believable. Not perfect, but believable. That's what works on camera. Join me now. The biggest mistake people make today is not just writing first, it's skipping their own voice entirely. They go straight to the AI because it's easy and fast. They type in a prompt, They say, write me a script about this topic. And within seconds, they have something that looks impressive. It's clean, it's organized, it even sounds intelligent. Then they read it, sounds terrible because their voice was never a part of the process. That's the problem. It's not that AI is bad. I use AI all the time. It's incredibly powerful. But if you start with AI, You're starting with something that doesn't know you, doesn't know your rhythm, doesn't know your pacing. It doesn't know how you emphasize ideas or how you naturally repeat things when something matters, because sometimes things really matter. So what happens? You try to force yourself to sound natural while reading something that was never yours to begin with. That's why it feels awkward. That's why you sound stiff, and it's why so many people think they're bad on camera when in reality they're just using the wrong process. Let me give you a simple comparison. If I asked you to explain something to a friend, you wouldn't speak in long, perfectly structured paragraphs. You'd use short sentences. You'd repeat key ideas. You might even start a sentence, stop, think, and restart it. That's natural speech. But AI typically removes all of that. It cleans it up, it smooths it out, it makes it efficient. But, and in doing that, it removes the humanity. So the shift is simple: do not start with writing. Do not start with AI. Start with you speaking. Even if it's messy, even if it's not perfect, because that's where your real voice lives. And once that voice is in the process, everything else becomes easier. One of the biggest advantages I have is this: I have years and years of my own spoken content— online courses, trainings, talks, presentations— and very little of it was ever scripted. It was me speaking Naturally. So instead of guessing what my voice sounds like, I already have it documented. I have transcripts of how I actually talk. And this is incredibly valuable because when I use AI, I don't start from scratch. I give it my past. I give it real examples of how I speak when I'm not trying to sound perfect. Let me tell you exactly what I do. I take transcripts from my old courses, the ones where I was speaking naturally, not reading. Then I upload those into the AI and I give very direct instructions. I say, analyze this. Look at my sentence length. Look at how I repeat ideas. Look at how I start and stop thoughts. Look at how I emphasize certain words. In other words, I'm not asking the AI to be smart. I'm asking it to be observant, to study patterns, to notice that I don't speak in long polished paragraphs necessarily, to notice that I often say something and then say it again slightly differently to notice that I use short sentences and sometimes a longer one. Then I break it again. That's my rhythm. And once the AI sees enough of that, it starts to approximate it. Now, not perfectly, but much better than starting from nothing. Now, you might not have years of transcripts. That's okay, that's fine. You can create your own. This is exactly what we just talked about. In the previous lecture. So record yourself, transcribe it. Now you have your own data set. Now you have something real to give the AI. By the way, when I say transcribe it, I don't mean go hire some expensive person typing away. It's automated these days with pretty much any service. You make a YouTube video, you'll get a transcript for it. So it's done instantly. And it's going to be good enough. It doesn't have to be perfect. Remember, the goal is to make AI sound like you, and the only way to do that is to give it real examples of you. By the way, quick question for you. Have you ever noticed how easy it is to consume content and how hard it is to actually do anything with it? I mean, you can listen to 100 episodes, read 10 books, and your habits are exactly the same. That's the gap most people never close. So if you're listening to this and thinking, yeah, I want to actually improve, go to ultimize.com. We've got free courses there for you, either on communication skills or building better habits. And it's designed to get you to actually use what you're learning, not just hear it once. No cost, no catch. Just go to ultimize.com and start. Ultimize.
