TJ Walker shares Tim Ferriss's advice to learn to be difficult: set firm boundaries and refuse unreasonable requests. Walker gives an example of insisting on payment before delivering training, arguing that holding firm consistently leads to better outcomes over time.

Author Tim Ferriss says, learn to be difficult in life, because then you'll often get things even without having to assert yourself a great deal. People just know they can't mess with you. I don't know if I would go so far as to say difficult, but I think it's crucial that you figure out exactly where you want to stand and not give in. In life, you're going to find clients, customers, bosses who say, I want this, do it this way. For example, they want to pay you 60 days after you've done a training or deliverable. Just say no. Just say, I get paid before I show up. That's the way I work. You might not get every gig, but over time you will mostly get what you want if you stand up for yourself. Please follow the TJ Walker habit.
