TJ Walker recommends doing your most important habits "first thing in the morning" (affirmations, visualizations, meditation). He argues mornings provide fewer distractions, more willpower, and increase the chance habits actually get done, while cautioning against one-size-fits-all schedules.

I admit it, I have a pet peeve. I don't like when gurus say, well, since I like to get up at 5 in the morning, everybody should get up at 5 in the morning. I don't think with so many habits that there should be a one size fits all. But there is one exception. I find that for myself and almost everyone I know. If you do the most important habits the first thing in the morning, and if you think about your habits and you do your affirmations and visualizations and meditation, the first first thing in the morning, it's so much better than waiting for free time or open time later in the day. First thing in the morning, you're fresh, you're well rested. Fewer phone calls, emails, fewer distractions, you have more willpower. You haven't used up your willpower for the day, and you don't have people pulling on you in every direction. I also find if I don't do my habits first thing in the morning, they often don't get done. So shoot for early in the morning.
