TJ Walker examines Republican senators David Vitter and John Ensign, who publicly condemned moral failings while privately engaged in scandal. Vitter was linked to a D.C. prostitution ring he'd called sinful; Ensign resigned after an affair with a campaign staffer and ethics violations. Walker argues the pattern shows politicians preaching morality they don't practice.

Chapters

Republican Senator David Vitter, strong social conservative. He acknowledged his phone number appeared in the records of the so-called D.C. Madam Prostitution Ring and publicly called it a serious sin. John Ensign, Republican Senator, rising conservative star. He had to resign after admitting to an affair with a campaign staffer amid a Senate ethics investigation involving payments made to the woman's family. These aren't rumors. These are documented cases. Reported by major news organizations at the time, and the pattern's always the same: very loud moralize— look how moral I am and my party is and how degenerate this other party is— followed by very messy private reality. Ultimize.
