I need you to step back for a moment. Have a quick mindset change. If you're having a disagreement with someone, it's a good thing. It means they're actually trying to communicate with you. It means they're listening to you, you're listening to them. The two of you are trying to work together at some level. So realize this is a good thing. There's no other way for two people, two parties, two companies to really communicate without there occasionally being some disagreement. That is human nature. Think of it this way. Have you ever been to a new restaurant that you wouldn't have picked yourself, but you ended up going and you loved it? Well, that was probably because you and a colleague, a family member, initially had a disagreement. You wanted to go someplace else. It was your turn to compromise. They got to pick. Now you loved it. Did you ever go to a movie that you were not thinking you would like? You didn't want to go to it, but it was a family member's turn to pick, you went, and turns out you loved it. Guess what? That's the nature of disagreement. It brings you together with new experiences, new people, and it helps you have a richer life. I need you to have that mindset with every disagreement you have in the workplace and with colleagues and professional associates.
