TJ Walker argues that Attorney General Patel is using forced depositions to identify sources behind critical journalism at The Atlantic, not to investigate January 6th. The goal, he claims, is to fire journalists and insiders deemed disloyal to the Trump administration.

I think what Patel really wants is to force depositions to try to find out the sources so he can fire people inside his organization. That seems to be the obsession of the Trump administration. Don't worry about actual crime. If someone did their job and actually investigated insurrection on January 6th, uh, that's not the problem. The problem is we haven't fired them yet. They're worried about things like that. So they're hoping for one or two things. They're hoping that a judge, and they have some close ties with judges, let's not kid ourselves, forces The Atlantic to name the sources for this article so Patel can fire them for disloyalty. And again, to be clear, to fire them for being honest about his shenanigans, poor leadership, and personal behavior. Ultimise.
