The Susie Wiles Test: How to Spot Truth in Politics

TJ Walker proposes a test for spotting truth in politics: when insiders from the criticized side privately echo public criticisms, those claims gain credibility. He applies this to Trump's drinking, his vengeful nature, Biden's age, and comments about Vance, Musk, and Bondi.

It's the story that won't go away. No, I'm not talking about the Epstein files. Yes, that's still with us. But the Susie Wiles interview in the fashion publications of all places just won't go away. So people are still talking about this. I think it is an extraordinarily interesting window, by the way, Susie Wiles, the chief of staff to the Trump administration, was caught and it was all on record, it was all taped saying horrible, horrible things about the President and everyone in the administration. And interestingly they all said, well, you know, it's Susie, we like her, no problem. No one even seemed to rebut her premises. Trump even said basically, yeah, I do kind of have an alcoholics personality. I've said that it's a good thing I don't drink. Whether that is an example of him showing self awareness, maybe, but I wanted to look into this, this Vanity Fair article in more detail because it has gotten a lot of attention, rightfully so. To me. It's an opportunity to try to get a sense of central truths in our American political debate today. Everyone says they want truth, but a lot of times we like lies. We like people telling us lies, we like people telling us what we want to hear. If someone says, I can give you free health care, eliminate your taxes, make sure your kids get a free college and there will be zero unemployment, and just trust me, a lot of times we know something like that's a lie and we say, okay, but it sounds good, tell me another lie and I'll vote for you again. But if you're watching this show, one of the premises of Filtered with TJ Walker is we try to filter the news and look at it through the lens of communication and figure out how do you really tell what's real and what isn't real. And I think the Susie Wiles Vanity Fair interview is a great opportunity for that. Now I'm going to be fair. Some of you are going to. Some of you are always trying to say, well TJ you're too conservative or TJ you're too liberal or you're too Republican or you're too Democrat. Why don't you just ignore that and accept the fact that I'm a sane, sensible centrist and I'm trying to give it to you with truth, help you discern what truth is. So here is what I think is a fundamental issue. Anyone who actually is sincere about wanting truth. What's the test? What's the question? You should ask. And I think the question is, do people inside A movement privately say the same damning things that their opponents say publicly. We now know, for example, that, yeah, there were a lot of friends of Joe Biden, some of his team, not all, but some of his team who said, yeah, he's getting too old to be president. So there's corroborating evidence. Now, maybe more of that should have come out earlier, but it came out in time to force him off the ticket in 2024. So I think that's one of those things you can sort of chalk up to, okay, that's true. Biden's enemies have been saying for four years, sometimes 10 years, the guy's too old. You could just ignore that as political claptrap. But when there's inside information from people who know him, like him, and support him, and someone who is maybe not an insider chief of staff sort, but, but someone like a Bill Maher and other movie stars who met with him at fundraisers, he's really too old. I think, then that gives you a sense of, okay, this is corroborated by insiders, therefore it must be true. And that's how you know it's not just spin. So that's why I think it's worth looking at the exact charges of Susie Wiles and what she said. She said, Trump has an alcoholic personality, he's obsessed with vengeance, he has no discipline. These are all things she said. Well, that's what his detractors have been saying. Now, she is an avowed Republican, avowed conservative, huge Trump supporter, and is with him every waking moment of the day. So if she says that, that, that's corroboration. Now let's turn the tables. We heard about Joe Biden and Barack Obama from critics on the other side, that both of these men secretly hated religion, anti Christian, love socialism, hate business. Okay, those are the charges. Let's see, is there any corroborating evidence? Well, you can go through every interview, every conversation, any of their top advisors, their chief of staff, any of those people. None of them have ever said anything like that. Are there people now, even years after Obama's left office, saying, you know, he really was a radical Marxist who despised capitalism, but we tried to keep it under wraps? Well, no, there's not a single case of corroborating evidence. Now, let's look at some of the other things that Susie Wiles said, because, I mean, she said a lot. This was 11 different interviews, so she said a lot of things. She said, JD Vance has been a, quote, a conspiracy theorist for a decade. Well, that's what a lot of people at MSNBC say. And so called liberals and the radical left have been saying that. But again, maybe they're just giving you spin. But here's somebody on the inside, someone who works with J.D. vance every day, someone who's been privy to his conversations in private meetings for hundreds, if not thousands of hours already. And she's saying this guy's a conspiracy theorist and has been for the last decade and that really he's kind of converted to Trump just for political reasons. I mean, that's pretty damning. And again, it's corroborating what critics in other political parties, other parts of the political spectrum have said. So that's what makes it all seem real. Here's what she said about Elon Musk. He's a complete solo actor, an odd, odd duck. He's an avowed ketamine user. Well, this is what the people who hate Elon Musk say. This is what the people say who said he should have never received the keys to the federal government to trash usaid, for example, resulting in hundreds of thousands of kids dying. That's what they were saying. This corroborates that she remembers having to tell Musk, you can't just lock people out of their offices. Again, this is what the political center and left was saying that was derided by those on the right. Well, here's someone in the right giving full corroboration. Here's what Susie Wiles, the White House Chief of Staff, said about Pam Bondi, the Attorney General, that she completely whiffed on appreciating the audience she was dealing with talking about Epstein files. She gave them binders full of nothingness. She said there's no client list and it sure as hell wasn't on her desk. So again, this is what we've been hearing from msnbc, the liberals, the Democrats. There's confirmation on the inside. That's why it's interesting. That's why it's new. That's why if you are remotely sincere about having one iota of concern for truth, you have to ask yourself, maybe this isn't. You know, one side says this, one side says that they're both lying, who knows? They're all liars. Well, no, if that's your attitude, you don't care about truth. It's pretty easy to find the truth. If one side says, here's a problem over here and people who actually work for and support and are part of that team say, yeah, that is a problem, it's really true. So that's why I think this is so important. Now, she's had a lot of negative things to say about all the characters in this White House. And it's just interesting. They seem as harsh or harsher than what the Democrats have been saying. Therefore it must be true. It's corroboration. If you care about truth, you don't just take someone's word for it. You don't take my word for something. You look for independent corroboration, especially from someone from a different ideological perspective, someone on a different political team. When you're getting independent corroboration, that's when you know you found the truth.
