A short live-stream commentary by TJ Walker criticizing Governor Chris Christie's public temper and lack of self-control, arguing this behavior undermines his viability as a major-party presidential nominee. Walker notes media and conservative backlash (e.g., Joe Scarborough/Morning Joe) and frames Christie as coming across as a public ‘jerk’ and a hothead unsuited for the presidency.

Sit down and shut up. That's what you get if you are a constituent of Governor Chris Christie's in New Jersey. Governor Chris Christie in the news again. And he is rapidly losing whatever support he did have in the national media and among prominent conservatives like the Morning Joe crowd on msnbc. I realize MSNBC is a liberal network, but Morning Joe himself, Joe Scarborough, is Mr. Conservative Republican who has always been a huge Chris Christie fan. And now he's turning against him. Here's the thing about anger, flashes of anger, being forceful a little bit goes a long way in presidential politics. When you are angry, it has to be seen as being used for very noble purpose for other people, broader issues. What we're seeing with Chris Christie now is anytime somebody questions him in a way he doesn't like, he has to tell them to shut up. Basically tell them they're stupid. He's become a caricature of a Sopranos character. And it's not a particularly ideological or partisan viewpoint to suggest that people like that just don't get to be president. They don't get to be major party nominees. The American people might not be perfect, they might not always nominate perfect people, but they don't nominate people who just come across as jerks openly and publicly. Maybe some presidents have been jerks privately, but they have tremendous self control in public. And that's the thing about Chris Christie, is he doesn't seem to have self control. He seems to be a hothead. And the last thing anybody wants in the White House is a hothead who gets angry easily and does whatever he can to sort of put someone down. And that's the real problem Chris Christie faces.
