TJ WALKER - THE HABIT INFLUENCER - Personal Development | LIVE STREAM

TJ Walker speaks from an airport and gives travel-packing advice based on a personal experience of lost luggage. He recommends always traveling with one carry-on bag plus one computer bag (holding electronics), packing all essentials in carry-on to avoid being stranded without appropriate clothes, and notes benefits like faster airport transit and easier connections.

I'm still in the Salt Lake City airport. You can't see it through the windows. Just absolutely beautiful snow capped mountains here. I want to give you a quick travel tip for when you're going someplace. Speaking when I travel, whether it's for an overnight gig like I'm going to in Oregon today, or if it's two weeks in Bangkok, the way I pack is going to look exactly the same. This is it. One carry on bag, one computer bag. A computer bag has several video cameras, tripods, lights, everything. Computers. The carry on bag, why is that so important? It's because it's not important until your bags get lost or delayed. It only happened to me once, but it left a scarring experience. I was going to Minneapolis to do a training. My bags were lost, the video cameras lost for a week, and I had to stand up in front of people wearing jeans and a casual T shirt. Now when I travel, I like to travel casual. I'm in jeans today and nothing fancy, an old sports coat. But I don't really want to wear traveling what I'm going to be wearing when I'm giving a speech or a presentation. But all of my bags were packed for that trip. I didn't get it. So I had to show up after training in front of dozens of clients wearing essentially dirty clothes that were too casual for the appearance. And anytime you're speaking, you want to be at maximum confidence. You don't want to be worrying about, oh, do I look stupid or unprofessional or am I poorly dressed or underdressed? You don't want to have to think about any of those things. That's why my recommendation, even if you're going to be gone for a month, pack everything you need and carry on. The other benefit of that, of course, is you get out, in and out of airports much, much faster. You can get to an airport later if you're not checking bags, you can get out of the airport faster. You can make connecting flights much easier. So I know some of you are saying, well, I can't do it at too much stuff. Learn to prioritize. Even when my wife goes with me and we're going to Europe or Asia for more than 10 days, we each take just one bag. If we can do it, so can you.
